Hi, I'm Jack.

I'm from south of London, UK, teaching English to teenagers and young adults.

As a native speaker, my classes go beyond grammar and improving your grades at school or university: I also prepare families who are planning to move to England with the relevant slang, idioms and etiquette so they can easily integrate into their new community.

My classes are customised to your needs and challenges with an emphasis on speaking freely and being able to lead a conversation with confidence.

I teach 1to1, groups, and holiday camps. In person and online via Skype lessons.

You can contact me for lessons directly or through the teaching platform Verbal Planet, among others.

Speak freely!

About Me

Born in 1989, I grew up south of London, in the lovely South Downs National Park. It was during my studies at Plymouth University that I started tutoring, discovering my love for teaching which I made my profession after graduating in 2012.

I went on to travel, teaching teenagers and young adults from all over the world in small groups, big classes or themed holiday camps.

Since moving to Germany in 2016, I have additionally been teaching students on a 1to1 basis, including online Skype lessons.

Teaching Methods

Having

Fun

I firmly believe that learning a language should be a fun and engaging experience. Not only does it help with staying motivated but it also reduces mental blocks and frustrations that might already be associated with the subject.

I regularly find that when my students have fun learning English, they open up to the language, become more receptive and the noticeable improvements motivate them further.

Customised

Content

To meet my students' needs and goals and address their individual challenges, I customise each lesson plan and the teaching materials accordingly.

Whether a student needs to be prepared for an exam, improve their grammatical foundation, get out of their shell and participate more in class, or needs to build specific vocabulary for work, I will create and adapt the necessary lesson content to get the best possible results.

Building Confidence

I specialise in helping students build confidence in their abilities which increases their participation in school and continuously decreases potential learning gaps to the rest of the class.

My classes create a safe space for experimenting with the language which particularly helps shy students to feel more comfortable speaking up and to realise that nothing bad happens if you make a mistake in class.

To achieve this, I focus on my students' interests and hobbies and I love coming up with inventive activities and games designed to get them chatting.
